CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Fire Department has intensified fire and rescue trainings in different barangays of Cebu City.
This was revealed by SFO1 Jofrefil Patangan, head trainor of the Cebu City Fire Department.
First to benefit from the trainings is barangay Apas, with its five-day seminar on fire fighting, rescue, evacuation and first aid. The event started last Monday.
Barangay Sto. Niño officials headed by Capt. Pancho Ramirez had also asked for a five-day orientation.
Patangan said they are willing to conduct the trainings and added that he is glad Barangay Apas already organized a rescue group.
Forty residents and barangay workers of barangay Apas joined the five-day seminar initiated by the Cebu City Fire Department.
Today, the Philippine National Red Cross will also distribute 40 insurance cards for members of the newly formed rescue group in Barangay Apas called Apas Emergency Response Team (AERT).
Patangan said they will also give priority to barangays that have fire trucks. Earlier, the Cebu City Government gave financial aid to barangay fire volunteers of 10 barangays in Cebu City that have fire trucks.
Cebu City Councilor Nida Cabrera, chairperson of committee on Environment, said she will sponsor a resolution for the Cebu City Government to give P2,000-monthly monetary aid to fire volunteers. (FREEMAN)
