CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia once again celebrated her Valentine’s Day yesterday by giving projects and financial assistance to the different barangays.
This has been Garcia’s tradition since she became governor six years ago. This year, the Governor chose the fifth district, which gave her an overwhelming majority during the last election to win her reelection bid against former Cebu City Councilor Hilario Davide III, as beneficiary.
Municipal and barangay officials from the 10 municipalities in the Fifth District and the officials of Danao City gathered at the Carmen Cultural Complex to receive Garcia’s love gift.
Garcia gave P500,000 worth of check to each mayors for their different projects and 56 multicabs worth P115,000 each for the different barangays.
Fifth District Rep. Ramon “Red” Durano VI, Provincial Board Members Agnes Magpale and Thaddeus Jude Sybico also attended the affair.
Garcia awarded second year high school student Regine Gualiza of Carmen a pair of goat for having able to plant 350 jackfruits as part of the Expanded Greening With the Environment Now (EGWEN) program of the province.
Garcia also distributed kits for barangay tanods, barangay health workers, day care workers and barangay animal health aide.
She likewise turned over Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) group insurance and Philhealth cards for barangay officials, BHWs and lupon tagapamayapa.
Agricultural inputs such as organic fertilizers, tilapia fingerlings, banana (lakatan variety) seedlings, vegetable seeds and camote cuttings were also given to the mayors.
Garcia has been promoting her “Bahalag Saging Basta Loving” program during Valentine’s Day for the past six years now. (FREEMAN NEWS)
