CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency awarded yesterday the Cebu City Police Office the Distinguished Police Office in Anti-Drug Operation for the entire Central Visayas.
PDEA-7 Director Adrian Alvariño handed over the reward, which was signed by PDEA Director General Dionisio Santiago, to CCPO Director Melvin Ramon Buenafe, who also received a Certificate of Merit.
The awarding was held yesterday morning at the Police Regional Office-7.
Buenafe told reporters that the award was for their accomplishment in the campaign against drugs for the last quarter of 2010.
“Gi-evaluate nila sa national headquarters, then they recognized that we’ve accomplished so much and has helped PDEA a lot. Sa buong region 7, ang Cebu City ang may pinakadaghan na na-seize na drugs,” he said.
Buenafe said that aside from netting at least two kilos of shabu – one kilo each from two huge drug operations – they have also made several arrests along Junquera Street, Barangays Pasil and Hipodromo, among others.
“Gi-consider ni tanan sa PDEA for the past quarter. We fully support PDEA and we will continue with our efforts and carry out more drug operations,” he said.
The CCPO director also said he considered those scalawags in their organization as a challenge to his job and vowed to implement the harshest punishment on them.
There were reports received by the media that a unit of the CCPO conducted a drug operation in one barangay but did not arrest the suspect after they were paid with a certain amount of money.
“Daghang challenges sa among unit. Among them yung mga kabaro na di maayo ang binuhatan in the guise of their title as police. We will not condone them kay makadaut sa organisasyon,” Buenafe said, as he thanked the people who reported to them about the misbehavior of some policemen.
“Kaning mga erring personnel especially those anti-criminality groups, will be prosecuted and will be slapped with administrative cases and will be removed from the service,” he added. (FREEMAN NEWS)
