- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - A woman was killed while her younger sister is in critical condition after they were stabbed by their neighbor inside their house in Sitio Lala-an, Barangay Bulasa, Argao about 9:30 in the evening on Sunday.

Margarita Sarno, 65, died of three stab wounds in her chest while her sister, Sigundina Alvarado, 52, is in critical condition due to lone stab wound in her chest. They were rushed to Argao District Hospital where Sarno was declared dead on arrival. Alvarado was later transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City due to serious wound she sustained.

The suspect, Adriano Camiguing, 21, poultry farm helper, voluntarily surrendered to the police officers.

SPO2 Eliezer Monte, Argao police investigator, said Camiguing was heading home from a drinking session when he passed by the house of Alvarado where Sarno also lived.

Camiguing overheard the conversation of the two pointing to him as burglar who was responsible for stealing the chickens in their neighborhood.

Irked, the suspect, who was armed with a six-inch hunting knife, went inside the victims’ house suddenly and attacked them. Monte said the victims caught the suspect stealing valuables inside their house weeks ago.

“Gihusay nana sila sa barangay kay naabtan mana ang suspect nga nanglungkab sa ilang balay,” Monte said.

The victims were allegedly stabbed near the door of their house but nobody saw what really happened.

“Way nakakita kay lagyo og silingan, you have to travel two kilometers before ka maabot sa highway,” he added.

Camiguing will face murder and frustrated murder charges that will be filed before the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s Office within this week.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
