Man shot dead while asleep
CEBU, Philippines - A man was shot dead by still unidentified assailant while sleeping on a vendor’s pushcart at the Citi-Center Commercial Complex in Barangay Kamagayan yesterday dawn.
Police identified the victim as Jundard Jumao-as, 25, resident of Barangay Basak Pardo.
Police investigation shows that Jumao-as was sleeping with his live-in partner along the alley of the market when the unidentified gunman shot him in the head.
The victim’s live-in partner Mary Ann Bitus said she was awakened by the gunshot and saw the gunman casually walked towards Junquera St.
The responding Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) personnel pronounced the victim dead.
Homicide investigator Alex Dacua said he believes that personal grudge may have been the motive behind the killing.
Since the homicide investigator did not find any empty shell at the crime scene, the gunman may have used a revolver in shooting the victim.
Dacua said that they are still conducting further investigation to identify the perpetrator as no one has witnessed the incident except for Bitus. However, she did not also recognize the gunman.. (FREEMAN)
