CEBU, Philippines - Seven suspected drug users were caught-in-the-act of using Nubain inside a drug den in Sitio Feather, Barangay Day-as, Cebu City yesterday afternoon.

The suspects were identified as Aristeo Tabar Artajo, 27, of Barangay Punta Princesa; Nestor Laguna Zamora, 42, of Barangay Sambag I; Reni Cabulag Torrecampo, 32, of Barangay Lorega San Miguel; Sandy Acosta Ejares, 31, of Barangay Labangon; Simeon Abella Veloso Jr., 43, of Barangay Sambag II; Royd Diez Bacalla, 22, of Barangay Kamagayan; and Adrian Chavez Badal, 24, of Barangay Labangon.

Chief Inspector Bonifacio Garciano of the Theft and Robbery Section (TRS) said they received information about the activities of the suspects prompting them to check.

Garciano said they caught them in the act of injecting a syringe containing Nubain into their veins. Nubain was recently classified by the Dangerous Drugs Board as a dangerous drug.

The police were able to confiscate 20 syringes and nine ampules of Nubain from the suspects.

Garciano said they are still investigating who owns the house where the seven suspects were caught for possible charges for maintaining a drug den.

According to Garciano, they were told that the suspects paid a certain amount to be able to use the house for their drug session.

Meanwhile, a man on board a motorcycle was arrested for having in his possession one pack of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.

TRS operatives were on their anti-carnapping checkpoint operation in Barangay Pasil, Friday evening when they flagged down a motorcycle driven by Joel Lanit Bagol, 31, resident of the said place.

The police asked Bagol to open the U-box of his motorcycle and found a pack of shabu worth P30,000. Bagol was immediately placed under arrest and will be charged for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (FREEMAN)
