Passenger stabs jeepney conductor

CEBU, Philippines - A PUJ conductor died after he was stabbed several times by his passenger yesterday morning in Talamban Proper, Barangay Talamban, Cebu City.

Jerlan Gonzales Iba, a resident of Barangay Kantabako, Toledo City was calling out for passengers near Sunny Hills Division around 6 a.m. when one of his passengers alighted and suddenly stabbed him with a knife.

Joerem Parame, 28, driver of the PUJ with plate numbers GXB-766 and route no. 13C plying the route Talamban-Colon and vice versa, said they stopped at the area to call for passengers.

The assailant told the conductor before fleeing, “Mao na’y sangpot nimo.”

The victim, who was wounded on his neck, left armpit and back, fell and died on the spot.

His body was taken to the St. Francis Funeral Homes for autopsy.

Talamban Police conducted a hot pursuit operation but did not find the assailant. However, they have already identified the assailant and are now hunting him down. (FREEMAN)
