No ID, gallivanting employees warned

CEBU, Philippines - The Human Resource Management Office of Cebu City has warned City Hall employees who insist of not wearing their identification card while on duty and those who abandon their jobs during office hours that they will face possible sanctions.

HRMO chief Mary Ann Suson said she will recommend sanctions against those who violate the existing memorandum that requires all City Hall employees to wear I.D. and those who will be caught gallivanting during office hours.

Some City Hall reporters observed that there are employees who insist on not wearing their ID even if Mayor Michael Rama himself wears his own to set an example.

It was also observed that some employees abandoned their jobs even before lunch break to fetch their children in school. 

Although there were some employees seen abandoning their jobs during office hours, Suson assured that there are no “ghost” employees in the city.

She said all the more than 5,000 employees have been accounted for during the inventory following the assumption of Rama into office in July last year.

“Ghost” employees are those who only report to work during paydays and whose names appear in the payroll but are actually not working. Often times their names are fabricated.

Meanwhile, Suson said her office will accept nominations for outstanding City Hall employees and departments until this afternoon.

Suson said the City Hall is searching for outstanding department, outstanding department head, assistant department head, division chief, section chief and outstanding employee.

The awarding of winners will be held on February 21, three days before the 74th Founding Anniversary of Cebu City. (FREEMAN)
