Rama brings home donated medical equipment from Japan

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama brought home several medical equipment from his recent travel in Japan for the city hospital.

The medical equipment which include 80 beds, 32 towel pots, 20 mini refrigerators, four food warmers, about 10 or more wheel chairs and nine ordinary beds were donated to the city government by the two hospitals in Japan.

      Rama said he already signed a memorandum of agreement with the Shinsei-Juzenkai Medical Corporation and Juzenkai Medical Corporation for the donation of the used beds and other health care equipment.

The cost of transporting these donations shall be shouldered by the city.

Rama said that not only the Cebu City Medical Center that will benefit from these donations but the selected health centers in the barangays as well.

Rama clarified that he did not go to Japan for a vacation but rather to seal partnership with the two corporations.

Hiroshi Akaki, Chairman of Shinsei-Juzenkai Medical Corporation will come to Cebu City on March for a short visit.

Rama said he also checked the drainage system of Kyoto City if it can be replicated in Cebu.

Rama said that during Akaki’s short visit to Cebu City on March he will ask the Department of Manpower Development and Placement to explore the possible partnership with him for the employment of DMDP scholars.

Rama said that Filipino caregivers are in demand in hospitals in Japan.

Shinsei-Juzenkai Medical Corporation is one of the medical companies in Japan which expressed interest in 2007 to establish a retirement facility in Cebu for Japanese retirees. —  (FREEMAN)
