CEBU, Philippines - Four hundred and eight stalks of marijuana plants were uprooted by the police officers in Sitio Kaluwangan, Barangay Langosig, Danao City on Saturday morning.
Of the uprooted marijuana plants, 260 are fully-grown marijuana while the 148 others are just seedlings and are planted in a secluded area underneath wild plants.
Police conducted the operation based on the information given by the military personnel who have a detachment in the area. SPO3 Bryan Batiquin said they coordinated with the AFP after 1st Lieutenant Lorenzo Siobal Jr. of the 52nd Infantry Battalion asked their assistance.
Batiquin said the marijuana plants found in the mountain areas of Danao City are easily monitored by the AFP since they are familiar with these areas.
He however said they could not determine who owned the plants since they found no house nearby.
“Lisod ipangita sa tag-iya kay layo na kaayo ang lugar unya tuyuon,” Batiquin said.
The police believe that there are still lots of marijuana plantations in the mountain areas but they need to monitor them closely to arrest the possible suspects.
“Illegal gud na mapriso gyud ang tag-iya,” he said.
The uprooted marijuana plants are now in the custody of Danao City Police Station while waiting the possible order from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on what to do with them. (FREEMAN NEWS)
