CEBU, Philippines - Twenty five old tenants and eight new businesses will bid for spaces at the Cebu South Bus Terminal this January 25.
Provincial Administrator Eduardo Habin said the new tenants who will participate in the bidding will be asked to pay a bond equivalent to three months of rent while the old tenants may use their existing deposit as bidding bond.
Habin said the bond of winning bidders will serve as their deposit for the first three months, while the bond of non-winning bidders will be returned to them.
He said only those with approved requirements and no financial obligations with the provincial government like rental obligations and non-payment of water and electricity bills would be allowed to participate in the bidding.
However, old bidders with existing debts may have their obligations deducted from their deposits, which would also serve as bidding bond.
Habin said these new bidders include a bakeshop, a general merchandise store, and a food court. A pharmacy and a beauty salon have also expressed interest to bid.
The normal rate for a space at the SBT ranges from P900 to P1,550 per square meter, but spaces for a food court have a fixed rate of P11,000 monthly rental fee for 5.58 square meters.
The provincial government will provide for the food court’s utensils, tables, chairs, as well as the dishwashing personnel and security services. – (FREEMAN)
