CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said she cannot yet decide on permanently opening the access road linking Don Mariano Cui St. to the Fuente Osmeña rotunda since she will not be the only one making this decision.
The 300-meter road was recently opened because of the Sinulog activities but closed again after.
She said she also needs to hear the side of different parties involved.
Cebu City Traffic Operations Management chairman Sylvan “Jack” Jakosalem reportedly plans to request the governor to permanently open the road.
He said that if the access road will be permanently opened, vehicles from Don Mariano Cui St. can use it in going to the rotunda unlike now that the motorists from the vicinity of Chong Hua Hospital have to use F. Lorente St. and turn right to Don Gil Garcia St. if they want to proceed to the rotunda.
Vehicles from the Don Mariano Cui St. are not allowed to turn left to the rotunda when they reach B. Rodriguez St.
But the road has been closed for more than two years now upon the order of the governor when the previous administration of the city government stopped the construction of their Ciudad Project in Barangay Banilad.
Garcia clarified that she did not voluntarily raise the idea to open the road but CITOM, she added that she will not rush on its decision making since further discussion may come at the right time. –(FREEMAN)
