Cebuano balikbayans promote "Suroy-Suroy Sugbo" in Vegas
CEBU, Philippines - A group of Cebuano balikbayans is marketing the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo in Las Vegas for free.
The Philippine Bisayan Society of Nevada claimed to have helped promote Cebu in Las Vegas by enticing more people to visit here and join the Capitol’s Suroy-Suroy sa Sugbo program.
Marian Kimseng Pearson, the group president, said it was she who suggested to Governor Gwendolyn Garcia to hold the suroy-suroy northern escapade after the Sinulog.
Pearson said she made the suggestion during Garcia’s visit to Las Vegas.
“That way our guests could also see the northern part. This is not the first time we have joined the Suroy-Suroy. We have promoted it in Las Vegas that’s why there are more people joining right now,” Pearson said.
Pearson said that only very few of them joined at first, but right now there are already about 20 of them.
“We could be ambassadors for that when we get back. We tell them all about Cebu para mamalik every year,” Pearson said.
Some members of the delegation visited Garcia at the Capitol yesterday and they were briefed of the projects and programs of the present administration.
“Nakita gyud nato nga there’s a lot of improvements that has been done sa Cebu,” Pearson said.
Pearson added that for the past five years of joining the Suroy-Suroy, they are all satisfied and never heard of any complaints and now they are hoping to enjoy the northern part of Cebu province.
Garcia reported that all slots for the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo Northern Escapade have already been sold out last week.
In fact, Garcia said it is phenomenal that on the day they opened the reservation booth at SM City, 130 slots were taken.
The Capitol only allocated 160 slots enough to the capacity of resorts in Bantayan Island but it is stretched to 207.
The package includes three days and two nights accommodation but Garcia said they will be packaging day tour in Bantayan Island wherein guests can go back to San Remegio resorts in the afternoon of day 2 on Thursday and wait the group for the third day going back to Cebu City.
The activity will start in Consolacion tomorrow morning up to northern towns and will stay overnight in San Remegio. On Thursday morning, the group will cross Bantayan Island and stay there overnight.
They will cross back to San Remegio on Friday and drop by some towns and will have the culminating activity in Liloan. (FREEMAN NEWS)
