CEBU, Philippines - An ex-convict died on the spot after he was ambushed by three men in sitio Tangke, Barangay Alaska-Mambaling last Friday afternoon.
The fatality was identified as Ricardo Genses, of legal age, married and a jobless resident of sitio Tinabangay in Mambaling. PO2 Jodan Batucan of the Homicide Section said Genses was recently released from the city jail for a robbery case.
Batucan said the victim was walking towards the interior portion of sitio Tangke around 3 p.m. to visit one of his children when a man, identified only as Levy Tan, shot him several times.
The man was with two others who acted as his back-up. The two have yet to be identified.
After the shooting, the three boarded on a motorcycle and fled towards the interior portion of the said sitio.
The victim was hit on his stomach and right shoulder, the bullet exiting through his chest. He died on the spot.
Responding policemen recovered two empty shells apparently of caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene.
Batucan said the victim probably had an offense (atraso) against the suspect, who is also a noted thief and toughie.
“Atraso jud na kay pareha man na silang duha mga notadong tulisan nya hawod-hawod sad. Noted sad na siya (victim) nga badlungon sa area,” Batucan said, adding that the victim’s family could not recall when Genses was released from the city jail. (FREEMAN)
