CEBU, Philippines - At least two senators are coming to Cebu to watch the Sinulog grand parade on Sunday upon the invitation of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.
Senator Jinggoy Estrada informed Garcia that he is coming for the Sinulog and to deliver the second half of the P10 million he earlier promised to the Capitol.
Estrada gave the first P5 million to Garcia before the May 10 elections.
Garcia told reporters that she invited Estrada to come on Sunday to watch the Sinulog grand parade.
She said that Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. will also be coming upon her invitation.
“I’m helping to promote the Sinulog,” she said.
Aside from the two senators, Garcia said that other public officials are also coming to Cebu.
One of those is Oriental Mindoro Governor Alfonso Umali, Jr. who is the president of the 80-member League of Provinces of the Philippines.
Garcia’s guests will be joining the lunch with Mariquita Salimbangon-Yeung and other local officials and personalities in their headquarters along Gen. Maxilom Avenue.
Garcia is dancing with the Bonga Festival of the Municipality of Sibonga during the opening of the grand parade at the Cebu City Sport Center grand stage.
Garcia said she may not be dancing in the entire route but there may be portion where she will dance and mingle with the people like what she did last year.
“I tried to embrace the Sinulog spirit in the street,” Garcia said. — (FREEMAN)
