Laptops, docs stolen from house of consultant
CEBU, Philippines - Lawyer and Capitol consultant Rory John Sepulveda lost at least P100,000 worth of personal belongings after burglars entered his house in Barangay Lower Tawason, Mandaue City.
Sepulveda told police they discovered that the items were missing last Monday morning and said the burglary might have happened the night before.
Among those missing include a Macbook Pro laptop worth P89,000; a Lenovo laptop worth P25,000; a Samsonite backpack worth P5,000; and some important documents. The items were reportedly in the study room before they were stolen.
Insp. Ramil Morpos, chief of the Investigative and Detective Management Bureau (IDMB) of the Mandaue Police, said the suspects might have accessed the house through the main sliding doors.
Morpos said they are looking into the possibility that the bystanders in the area might have just been the ones who broke into Sepulveda's house. Last week, a group of teenagers reportedly broke into the house of Sepulveda's neighbors, but the owners woke up and managed to chase the suspects away.
In a text message to The Freeman, Sepulveda said the laptops did not contain important documents.
"None. Files in my laptop are also saved in my PC so other than a few drafts I was working on, I have copies of all files. We have some suspects…we do hope that the police can solve this," he said. - (FREEMAN)
