Capitol bids out terminal stalls

CEBU, Philippines - The Capitol has announced the bidding for the lease of stalls at the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT), which is scheduled on January 25.

The CSBT committee met yesterday with at least 17 present occupants to inform them about the bidding, which will also includes them.

Capitol consultant on planning and development Jose Ma. Gastardo said they advised occupants who have unsettled accounts or debts to pay, so that they will qualify for the bidding as only those tenants in good standing can participate.

At least 15 stalls of varied sizes are to be bid out for food outlets, pharmacies and other businesses. There are also carts inside the terminal.

Gastardo said that stalls with an area of 80 to 150 square meters will be offered to big companies for long term, to maximize the space of the terminal.

Minimum bid prize is at P1,000 per square meter.

Gastardo explained that current occupants are included in the bidding because they are setting up a system to be institutionalized for everybody to comply with in the future.

Meanwhile, the terminal collection for 2010 hit P52 million, which is much higher than the P40 million in 2009.

It has a target of P50 million for last year.

The income is generated from passenger terminal fees of P5 each; bus terminal fees of P10 each entry, stall rentals and comfort rooms.  (FREEMAN NEWS)
