Along Leon Kilat St. burglars hit 7 shops, one office in two days
CEBU, Philippines - More policemen will now do a continuous roving patrol along Leon Kilat St. following the burglary in six auto supply shops and other establishments in the area in just two days.
Supt. Pablo Labra II, deputy director for administration of the Cebu City Police Office, said there will be police visibility in the area especially since they believe that the burglars live near there.
Just yesterday, four auto supply shops housed in Gochan building were discovered burglarized. The culprits, Labra said, gained entry at the building by cutting a portion of the roof.
The auto supply shops were Security Auto Supply which lost P13,000; Glorious Auto Supply which lost P8,700; Pioneer Auto Supply which lost P7,000; and Cebu Downtown Auto Supply, which lost P5,000.
The other establishment burglarized was the meat shop Meatland Traders Corp., whose workers reported P600 in missing cash.
Last Wednesday, Mercury and Prince auto supply shops located at a separate building along Leon Kilat St. were also burglarized. Mercury lost P15,000 while Prince lost P10,000 and a cellular phone. The old GSIS building also lost a laptop inside.
Labra said they are now investigating at least two men who were sighted at both places the night before the burglaries took place. These men were reportedly freed just recently from jail. They were detained for robbery cases.
The police will also check other angles such as the possibility of an inside job considering that there was a security guard manning the buildings when both incidents happened.
Labra said he gave instructions to his men to solve the cases. He admitted that the incidents are somehow alarming but he vowed to solve them immediately. The Sinulog fiesta celebration is also fast approaching that’s why criminals are on the move again, he said.
The police official said he himself will assist the Carbon Police and the Theft and Robbery Section in neutralizing the culprits. (FREEMAN NEWS)
