Lapu-Lapu to conduct public hearing on revision of property assessment
CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City council will conduct a public hearing on January 13 in connection with the proposed ordinance which seeks a general revision of property assessment of the different classes of real properties in the city.
The proposed general revision of property assessment is pursuant to the duly published schedule of fair market values.
The public hearing will start at 9:30 p.m. at the session hall.
Invited to attend the public hearing are barangay captains, business establishments, non-governmental organizations, and interested parties.
The proposed ordinance states that the city government of Lapu-Lapu has not undertaken a general revision of property assessment since 1997, or for the past thirteen years.
This strategy has attracted numerous investors and has generated the desired developmental growth, thereby catapulting the city to its being a highly urbanized city and obtaining the status of being a lone congressional district.
Lapu-Lapu City Councilor Florito Pozon, who introduced the proposed ordinance said the clamor of several sectors, not to mention the criticisms registered by some, has provided the impetus for the general revision of property assessment in the city.
The city councilor said the revision is pursuant to the provisions of the local government code of 1991. - THE FREEMAN
