CEBU, Philippines - An unidentified man was found dead inside a sack yesterday at around 7:30 in the morning in sitio Bangko, barangay Valencia, Carcar, Cebu.
In sitio Dam, barangay Poblacion, also in Carcar, a 20-year-old man committed suicide last Tuesday evening, three weeks after his father’s death.
On the first incident, Poblacion Barangay Tanod Antonio Sagolili reported to Carcar Police that they saw a man inside a sack, his hands and feet tied with a nylon rope.
The man was wearing only a white t-shirt and underwear.
The Carcar police noticed a gunshot wound in the man’s head and found an empty shell of caliber .45.
Carcar investigator SPO1 Reynaldo Fuentes said that many people tried to see who it was but no one could identify the body.
The body of the man, believed to be between 20 to 30 years old, was taken to the Tupas Funeral Homes for autopsy.
In the suicide incident, Fritz William Labis was seen by his grandfather already hanging from the ceiling, lifeless.
Labis used a blanket to tie around his neck.
According to his mother, Prescilda, Labis chose to stay with his grandfather right after the interment of his husband, who died last December 5.
“Ingon siya adto lang usa siya matulog kay aron dili siya kahinumdom sa iyang daddy,” she told The FREEMAN in a telephone interview.
When his grandfather woke up at about 2:00 in the morning, he noticed that the room Labis was occupying was wide open so he checked and saw Labis was hanging six feet from the floor.
“Wala man siya’y gisulti nga problema sige pa gani siya og komedya basin sad naguol siya kay wa na iyang daddy,” she said.
A day before the internment, Labis told his mother he wanted to go after his father and tried to go inside the crypt, but laughed telling them it was hot inside.
Carcar police investigator SPO1 Reynaldo Fuentes said they requested the family to allow an autopsy to check if there was no foul play. — Ria Mae Y. Booc and Donna B. Vitualia /JPM (THE FREEMAN)
