CEBU, Philippines - An organization of traders in downtown Cebu City yesterday donated 10 motorcycles to assist the different projects and programs to be undertaken by the city government.
City Mayor Michael Rama thanked the United Multi-Sectoral Coordinating Council (UMCC) donating Grandstar CG 150 Deluxe of motorcycles to the city government amounting to close to half-million pesos.
In a simple turn-over ceremony at the City Hall ground, Rama said the 10 motorcycles will greatly be used for the different projects of the Office of the Mayor and barangay programs.
UMCC executive director Joni Chan said UMCC has also donated multicabs to support the Business Entrepreneurial Scholarship and Training (BEST) program.
It was used to transport personnel and materials to and from beneficiary schools, support the 30 graduates in transporting goods in their entrepreneurial ventures, and assist the other youth programs supported by then vice mayor Rama.
The UMCC has been active since 2005 and initiated the Pasko sa Carbon in 2006 and 2007, Misa de Gallo sa Carbon, Feeding Program in Barangay (village) Ermita, Walk for Health for senior citizens, livelihood programs like Sikap Sarap, and a number of medical and dental missions. (FREEMAN)
