City Hall hotline available soon

- Jessica Ann R. Pareja -

CEBU, Philippines - A City Hall hotline will be available soon for the public to channel their concerns that need actions from the city government.

The project is a joint undertaking of the city government and the Junior Chamber International-Metro Cebu Uptown to allow better feedback mechanism.

JCI-MCU executive director Ray Godilano said that thru the hotline the public can text or call their concerns that need immediate actions from the city government. Godilano said the messages that will be received by the hotline will be forwarded immediately to concerned City Hall departments.

According to Godilano, They believe that many residents have issues that they want to tell the Mayor but could not for lack of access.

The hotline will accommodate txt messages 24 hours, seven days a week but calls may be done only between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“They may text their concerns like garbage, traffic, busted lights, etc. We will then forward their message to the concerned department heads. For garbage, we will forward it to DPS. For traffic, to CITOM. There will be a system for that,” said Vincent Lazaro, JCI-MCU executive vice president. The program is currently under construction but they expect to launch it within the first quarter of 2011.

The program is sponsored by Globe Telecom while JCI will facilitate the implementation in partnership with the city. When they get fully operational, Godilano said that they expect to receive millions of text messages. (FREEMAN)
