Lapu-Lapu council to hold sessions at Olango Island
CEBU, Philippines - Members of the Lapu-Lapu City council will push through with their plan next year to hold a session in Olango Island once a month, a response to Mayor Paz Radaza's wish to bring the government closer to the people.
Since assuming office last July 1, the council had held a session at the mini-city hall in Olango Island only once.
Vice Mayor Marcial Ycong said the holding of sessions at the mini-city hall in Olango Island aims to hear issues and concerns of residents in the different barangays in the island and neighboring islets.
He said instead of the people in the island going to city hall, it will be the city hall going to the island.
"Mao kini pagsuporta sa program ni Mayor Paz Radaza nga atong mapaminaw ang mga problema sa atong mga kaigsoonan sa isla," said Vice Mayor Ycong.
The city government has approved funds to finance different projects in Olango Island.
Aside from the road improvement and concreting of roads, the city government has also allocated funds to construct a Material Recovery Facility in the island.
The city government has also set aside funs to improve the health services especially to people confined at the Santa Rosa Community Hospital. (FREEMAN)
