CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Police Office held its Christmas Party this year by setting a unique tradition – the more privileged personnel giving to less fortunate members of the force.
CCPO has set up a bazaar at the headquarters where policemen can deposit items they would want to give out like clothes. The items collected would be distributed to lowest ranking personnel like strikers and members of the Barangay Intelligence Network (BIN).
Supt. Pablo Labra II, Deputy Chief for Operations of the CCPO, said the idea for the project came from City Police Director Melvin Ramon Buenafe. The police chief reportedly wants to make the project a yearly tradition.
“Kami tanan mga officers sa CCPO, we bring things that are dear to us but we’re willing to let go. Amo ning ibutang sa bazaar para matagaan tong wala,” Labra said.
Still, no one left empty handed yesterday afternoon as all personnel received giveaways. Prizes were also given away.
Buenafe said earlier gifts and prizes would push through at the CCPO Christmas Party despite the cancellation of a raffle draw that caught the ire ofCebu City South District Rep. Tomas Osmeña. (FREEMAN)
