CEBU, Philippines - Young individuals of Barangay Bulacao Pardo conducted a whole-day medical mission for the Bulacaonons yesterday.
Sinugdanan Alang sa Kausaban ug Tarong nga Umaabot (SAKTU) youth organization, together with the Rotary Club of Metro Cebu, offered a free medical check-up and minor surgeries for almost 500 beneficiaries.
Most of the benefactors were children and senior citizens who also availed of free vitamins and supplements.
SAKTU President Jebson Comendador said that the organization aims to provide an avenue for the youth to participate in nation-building.
“Nangusog na mi karon aron matagaan og tingog ang kabatan-onan sa komunidad,” Comendador told The FREEMAN.
He added that they had received positive reactions from the beneficiaries for organizing such an event.
Comendador also expressed his gratitude to the Rotary Club of Metro Cebu for extending financial support to the organization.
SAKTU was launched last November 28, 2010 and currently has around 200 members.
The organization also promotes the welfare of its members who cannot send themselves to educational institutions by endorsing them to universities.
After its first major activity, SAKTU plans to conduct caroling sessions to raise funds for its next project “Give Love on Christmas” for indigent families. (FREEMAN)
