Three wounded as blue guard's shotgun goes off

CEBU, Philippines - Three workers of a construction firm in New Road, barangay Opao, Mandaue City were seriously wounded Wednesday evening after the company's security guard's shotgun went off while it was in his hands.

The police detained Roel Tolones, single, 25, of Stand-out Security Agency.

Wounded were the firm's caretaker Joseph Jakosalem, 27, single, of San Carlos, Negros Oriental, construction worker Eder Oposa, 46, married, of Taboan, Cebu City, and Palaviano Benlot, 56, of Canlaon, Negros Occidental, who is also a construction worker.

PO3 Protacio Tago, the chief investigator of the Opao police station, said Tolones's shotgun fired while the owner was opening the gun's chamber.

The wounded were taken to the Mandaue City Hospital.

Charges for reckless imprudence resulting to serious physical injuries are being readied. (FREEMAN)
