CEBU, Philippines - A 26-year-old unwed mother is facing an investigation for possible intentional abortion after she left her baby boy dead inside a comfort room in Barangay Talangnan, Madridejos Sunday morning.
Miriam Cahotay resident of Sitio Villaflores in the said barangay reportedly delivered a baby boy inside the comfort room. She placed the baby inside a small box and a plastic bag and left it inside the CR.
Cahotay was rushed to the Bantayan District Hospital where she is currently confined because of hemorrhage. Her younger brother Francisco told the police that he saw the baby fell into the toilet bowl.
According to him, the baby could have been dead when his sister placed it in the box and in the plastic bag.
Police Officer 1 Jeffrey Barco of the Madridejos Police Station said they are investigating Cahotay for possible intentional abortion. Barco said although the baby was already nine months old but it is possible that Cahotay drink something to abort the baby.
Meanwhile, jealousy prompted a 52-year-old woman to hang herself Sunday night in Sitio Lawis, Barangay Jugan, Consolacion.
Ester Abadiano, a native of Mambaling, Cebu City, was seen by her step son Reinel Canonigo, 12, hanging lifeless with a rope tied on her neck.
Reynaldo Canonigo, 34, Abadiano’s live-in partner for five years already, told the police that his live-in partner was very possessive. (THE FREEMAN)
