Two robbers arrested in Danao

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines – Two men from Danao City who were allegedly responsible for the several robberies in Carmen were arrested separately last Monday.

Officers from the Carmen Police Station led by Police Senior Inspector Milo Dagasdas arrested Michael Roble, 23, a resident of barangay Binaliw, Danao City and Marlon Hermoso, 21, a resident of barangay Cabungahan.

Roble was arrested inside the house of his cousin while Hermoso was arrested inside the house of his grandfather in separate operations.

They are now detained in the police stockade.

The two men allegedly victimized Jimson Piape, 27, a resident of Pelaez St., Bogo and salesman of Karesh Purified Drinking Water. The two used a red Honda XRM motorcycle without a plate number.

Piape was delivering gallons of water to a customer at Sto. Niño St., barangay Luyang, Carmen about 3:25p.m. Saturday when the two held him up and took his P4,000 earnings.

Another victim, Joel Cabalican, 33, of barangay Cabalawan, Sogod and an ambulant ice cream vendor was also victimized by the same suspect.

Cabalican was peddling ice cream along J. Climaco St., barangay Cogon West, Carmen at about 3:30p.m. when the two, on board a motorcycle, stopped near him and declared a hold up.

One of the suspects forcibly took the victim's P1, 300 earnings before fleeing towards Danao City.

But both suspects denied the allegations although the police seized from them a caliber .38 pistol with five live bullets and two Nokia cellphones.

Dagasdas encouraged all the victims to appear in their office and identify the suspects so additional cases could be filed against them.

"If they identified the suspects mas maayo kay murag unom man gud ni sila kabuok," he said.

Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Erson Digal said that robbery was the main problem of the police officers in Carmen and the arrest of the suspects is a good development.

"Everyday na lang nako makita sa journal robbery ug hold up sa Carmen but i-verify pa if they are members of robbery gang," he said.

Digal is hopeful that the arrest of the two would lead to the capture of the other robbers. (FREEMAN)
