CEBU, Philippines – The Bravo Company of the 1st Cebu Ready Reserve Battalion completed its three-month readiness and preparedness training last Sunday in the western town of Pinamungajan. The said training was conducted for 10 consecutive Saturdays starting last October 10, 2010. Bravo Company has three officers and 125 elected personnel.
The Toledo City-based team is under the supervision of the 701st Community Defense Center, 7th Regional Community Defense Group of the Army Reserve Command headed by Col. Raymundo Bañares Jr.
Bañares said the purpose of the organizational training is to mobilize reservists in order to secure responsiveness and operational readiness.
The company will also be mobilized to assist in rescue and relief operations during disasters and calamities.
Major Leonardo Sibbacula of the 1st Cebu Ready Reserve Battalion also encouraged the company to participate in socio-economic development projects in the community.
"Reservists should always ready to assist the Local Government Unit and to practice the spirit of volunteerism like the current effort of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in preventing illegal cutting of small trees," Sibbacula said.
The three-month training culminated at Louie Beach Resort in Tajao, Pinamungajan. (FREEMAN)
