Rama lauds city's new fire chief

- Jessica Ann R. Pareja -

CEBU, Philippines – Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has commended the newly installed city fire marshall for the alleged improvements in the performance of the Bureau of Fire Protection after the latter's assumption.

Rama noted some changes in the city fire department's responses of fire alarms under the leadership of Fire Marshall Aderson Comar.

"There had been sunog after the assumption of Comar and I have seen some changes. And I am very proud and hope that he will continue doing so," Rama said.

Rama said that the BFP has become more efficient, faster and more responsive in responding to fire emergencies as he has seen in the recent fire in Barangay T. Padilla and Lahug.

"They're showing it. Nindot na fire truck na ang mag-una, dili ang fire truck nga pareha sa barko ni Magellan. I would like to commend our firemen. In line with public service, they should continue their good performance," Rama said.

On November 11, Comar assumed office during a simple turn- over of command between him and former Fire Marshall Esmael Codilla who was promoted as deputy regional director for operations.

Comar was the personal choice of Rama because the latter wants changes in the city fire department under his administration.

Rama also believes that Codilla should be promoted to higher position as he is already overstaying in the city. Codilla has been the city's fire chief for eight years.

Meanwhile, Rama thanked 1st District Representative Eduardo Gullas for donating a fire truck to the BFP-7.

Rama said that it will surely benefit not just the different towns of Cebu but also the city. (FREEMAN)
