Barangay in Consolacion to cleanup surroundings

- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - Newly installed Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) general manager Paul Nigel Villarete has assured that airport operations will proceed normally regardless of the decision of personnel of the Bureau of Customs not to render overtime.

Earlier, BOC employees assigned at the international arrival sections in various airports in the country refused to render overtime after learning that payment for time worked beyond the normal hours has been suspended.

Villarete said the issue is a very complicated one, adding that BOC-7 district collector Ronnie Silvestre has already assured him there will be no disruptions in the operations at the MCIAA in the coming days.

"There were delays like 30-minute delays but there was no failure of service," Villarete said.

Villarete is counting on the district collector's assurance.

In connection with the issue, the MCIAA board recently came out with a resolution urging the Department of Transportation and Communication and the Department of Finance to settle the issue. (FREEMAN)
