CEBU, Philippines - A Cebuana topped the licensure examination given by the Board of Electronics Engineering held last November 27 and 28, 2010.
The Professional Regulations Commission’s (PRC) announcement of board topnotchers and passers came a week after examinees complained of a “leakage” allegedly given by the Excel Review Center.
The PRC had denied the report.
Darling Angel Montealto, 21, of T. Padilla St. Cebu City, ranked fourth with a grade point average of 90.70.
She graduated magna cum laude from the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U). She took review classes from Excel Review Center.
But in an interview over radio dyLA, Montealto said she passed because she was resourceful enough to read and study her books.
Topping the exams was the result of studying hard, and not because of leakage, she stressed.
Montealto said there were similar questions given by the Excel Review Center and the actual exam, but these were not exactly the same and their number was not enough to pass the examination.
She also said she is open to whoever would want to investigate the exam for leakage.
The third of four children, Montealto is the only engineer in the family. She said she never dreamed of becoming one but pursued it all the same. She got the idea from the brother of a friend in high school.
She was happy to read her name in the list of topnotchers posted in the internet last night. She dedicates her success to her family and friends and plans to work in Manila.
There were 1,026 passers out of the 4,715 who took the Electronics Engineering Licensure Examination. The oathtaking ceremony will be on December 19, 2010 at 8 a.m. at the Mariners’ Court, ALU Compound, Pier One, Cebu City. (FREEMAN)
