3 men fall for guns
CEBU, Philippines - Three men were arrested for having high-powered firearms in Queensville Subdivision, Barangay Guadalupe yesterday afternoon.
Those arrested were identified as Teodorico Adarna Jr., 31, a native of Barangay Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City; currently living in Maria Luisa Village, Barangay Banilad; Reynaldo Castrodes, 55, of Paradise Village, Banilad; and Jaime Daño, 43, also from Punta Engaño.
Their arrest came after residents of the area called for police assistance when the suspects, who were on board a Mitsubishi Hi-Lux with license plate numbers JIM-500, allegedly fired two gunshots indiscriminately.
The complainants were identified as Cresencio Gacayan, 62; his wife Teresita, son Cresencio, Jr., and Virgilio Gabuya and Alberto Hermo who are both sons-in-law of the couple.
The police said the complainants have been in conflict with the suspects because of the issue of road right-of-way in the said subdivision, a matter which they already raised in court.
The report said the suspects were planning to construct a condominium in the area.
Operatives of the Special Weapon and Tactics team responded to the scene and invited the suspects to drive to the Guadalupe Police Station for questioning.
At the police station, the police saw and recovered inside their vehicle a baby armalite with a magazine, a 9mm pistol and two .45 cal. pistols with four magazines all loaded with bullets.
The suspects then showed to the arresting team documents that proved they had the permits to possess the firearms.
However, Sr. Insp. Mario Monilar, chief of the police station, said they have yet to verify it through the Firearms and Explosives Security Agency and Guards Supervisory Section-7.
The suspects were taken to the PNP Crime Laboratory-7 and were submitted to a paraffin tests to determine who among them reportedly fired a gun.
Monilar said the suspects were considered arrested and will be charged for grave threat, illegal discharge and illegal possession of firearms because they had no permit to carry the firearms outside their residences. (FREEMAN)
