CEBU, Philippines – A lawyer lost a laptop to a 22-year-old woman 30 minutes after she hired her as a house helper yesterday morning in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.
Lawyer Juanita Montesclaros told the police that woman, whom she only identified as "Ann-Ann," was left alone in the house around 8:30 a.m. as she left for an important matter.
When she returned home an hour later, the woman was nowhere to be found.
The victim then noticed that her laptop, worth P25,000, was missing and that the padlock of the door to her room was smashed by.
She said that around 8 a.m. that day, her driver, Manuel Gabutin, introduced the woman as his nephew.
Since the woman was a relative of her driver, she hired her and trusted her to be left alone in the house.
"Wa pa gani mi magkasabot unsa'y iyang assignment gani diri kay nagdali-dali man ko'g lakaw ganina," she said.
She said she would file charges against the woman, requesting the police to also investigate her driver.
The driver was taken to the Theft and Robbery Section to see if he can identify the woman through the rouge's galley.
He said he met the suspect around 8 a.m. that day when he saw her sitting outside the house.
"Nakigstorya ko niya unya pagkaila-ila namo nga siya diay kuno si Joan unya Candido iyang mama, nakaingon ko na paryente mi. Wa ko kaila gyud niya pero pareha man siya'g nawong sa akong isa ka-paryente. Ako girekomendar kang ma'am. Wa gyud ko magduda ug dautan kay nangita gud ug trabaho," he said.
