Joavan not interested in suing vice governor's son?

-

CEBU, Philippines – Joavan Fernandez has yet to report to the police the alleged smashing of his car's windshield last Saturday dawn.

Talisay City Police chief Henry Binas said he has already sent men to Joavan's place in Mansueto Subdivision, barangay Tabunok, where the incident allegedly took place, but Mayor Socrates Fernandez's son was not there.

"We did not receive a report of the incident kay way nagpablotter, pero gi-verify gihapon nato. Wa man sad si Joavan didto, wa sad siya nanawag diri para magpatabang. It's either di tinuod ang nahitabo or wa siyay plano nga mopasaka og kaso," said the police chief in an interview.

Binas said if there's no complaint, there would be no criminal charges to be filed against Vice Governor Greg Sanchez's son, Leodegreco, the alleged mastermind in last Saturday's incident.

Allegedly, Leodegreco, who was with friends, went to Joavan's house to demand payment for a debt.

Joavan reportedly did not come out of the house despite repeated knocking, and when Leodegreco spied Joavan's sports utility vehicle parked outside his home, he allegedly smashed its windshield.

Binas said when his men went to Joavan's place yesterday, the car was no longer there.

Telephone calls to Joavan were not answered.

Reportedly, the mayor's adopted son borrowed P20,000 from Leodegreco last month, which he used to bail out his friend Benedict Gabasa who was apprehended by the Pardo Police for driving without a license last September.

Leodegreco also admitted that he and Joavan used to be good friends hence the latter was able to borrow money from him. The relationship had allegedly gone sour allegedly after the vice governor's son hit Joavan with an ice bucket for reportedly being rude to his female friends while they were drinking at a bar in October 31.

It was shortly after this incident when Joavan's Pajero (GNZ-357) rammed a patrol car. No one was hurt in the incident.

But the Talisay City Police, which owns the car, sued Joavan for malicious mischief and direct assault, and seized his Pajero, which was still under its custody as of press time. (FREEMAN)
