CEBU, Philippines - A police asset who also worked as caretaker of a drink-and-billiard hall was gunned down by two unidentified motorcycle-riding persons in Barangay Lahug Tuesday night.
Police identified the fatality as Jofil Repuela Fuyod, 35, caretaker of Kakai Refreshment and Billiard Hall located in Sanson Road and a resident of sitio Ponce I, Barangay Carreta.
Jenny Jalma-ani, 32, live-in-partner of the victim, told the police that she requested the victim to change a P100-bill to P5 coins for the videoke while she was attending to the kitchen inside the said establishment at almost 7 pm.
Shortly after, she heard a burst of gunfire, prompting her to verify its origin only to find her live-in-partner lying on the ground with blood oozing from his head.
Jeffrey Castro, 18, a resident of Gorordo Ave., happened to pass by the area when he heard the gunfire.
He saw two men on board a blue XRM motorcycle speeding from the crime scene towards Gorordo Ave.
Responding policemen found the victim lying on his back with a lone gunshot wound in his head. An empty shell apparently of caliber .9 mm was recovered from the crime scene.
Paramedics of the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) declared the victim dead. His body was taken to St. Francis Funeral Homes for autopsy.
PO3 Victor Ruel Ayuman of the Homicide Section said his being a police asset could be the reason behind the shooting as has reported to authorities the illegal drug activities in their area. (FREEMAN)
