Cancer group to hold medical forum

CEBU, Philippines – The Cebu Cancer Fight group will hold a medical forum for the cancer patients and survivors at the College of Medicine beside Cebu Velez Hospital at Ramos St. Cebu City on November 27 at 1p.m.

The forum, entitled "Nutrition in Cancer Care for Cancer Survivors," will talk about topics related to breast cancer such as why protein and melatonin help fight breast cancer.

The forum will be attended by the American Cancer Society and U.S. National Cancer Institute's Dietary Guidelines for cancer patients.

Dr. Omid Etemadi, a U.S. trained Translational and Integrative Oncology specialist will be one of the guest lecturers.

He had Dr. Andrew Weil, the Father of Integrative Medicine in the U.S., as his professor at the University of Arizona.

Dr. Weil has written various books on Cancer and Nutrition.

Mr. Mark Ong, a clinical nutritionist and dietitian is the second guest lecturer.

The event will be hosted by Dr. Grace Balangkig, a Cebuano actress, T.V. personality, and dentist who is a big supporter of Cebu Cancer Fight.

The forum will be open to the public.

According to the group, numerous research studies have proven that high consumption of fruits and vegetables coupled with supplements can increase cancer survivorship by 30 percent.

Such nutritional breakthrough to Cebuano women affected with cancer will be aware of other discoveries with regards to the breast cancer issue.

Cebu Cancer Fight is a support group and a non-profit organization for cancer patients and survivors organized by cancer patients and survivors. (FREEMAN)
