Hack victims yet to file charges
CEBU, Philippines - The seven persons who were hacked Sunday in Lapu-Lapu while the city was celebrating its annual fiesta are yet to file charges against the perpetrator who is being held in custody by the police.
Police Director Police Senior Superintendent Mariano Natu-el Jr. told The FREEMAN a case of direct assault has been filed by the police against Rosalio Tariman to keep the suspect in jail while waiting for the other victims to make a move.
"Direct assault to an agent in person of authority man to iyang gibuhat against the two police officers," he said.
Natu-el said the police went to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) to get affidavits from the victims but they were already discharged.
He expects the victims to appear at his office tomorrow.
"They are willing to file a case because we are encouraging them," he said.
Tariman went out of control at Plaza Rizal in barangay Poblacion.
He was shot by the two policemen when he went for them with a knife.
Tariman was hit in the back twice and was taken to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).
Natu-el has assured he would request the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 to give a commendation or an award to PO1 Archie Borres and PO1 Roel Pelones for their bravery.
