CEBU, Philippines – A security guard landed at the hospital after he was shot and hit by an unidentified trisikad passenger in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City past 2 a.m. yesterday.
Supreno Contreras, Jr., 24, detailed with Global Security Agency and a resident of Unit 3, Oppra in the said barangay, suffered a gunshot wound to his back.
Antonio Anoba, 26, a companion of the victim, told the police that he was riding on a pedal-pushed tricycle (trisikad) with the victim and the assailant when a heated argument ensued among them.
PO3 Geoffrey Gutual of the Homicide Section said all three were drunk.
Upon reaching the 2nd St., the victim disembarked from the trisikad and ran. After doing so, Anoba and the assailant engaged in a fistfight.
The assailant took an opportunity to run and follow the victim.
Upon reaching Sitio Kanaas, the assailant suddenly appeared behind the victim, who was already with Anoba, and opened fire.
Anoba survived unscathed while the victim was hit on his back. The assailant, who is neither a friend nor an acquaintance of the two, then fled.
The victim was taken to the Cebu Doctors Hospital where his gunshot wound was treated.
Gutual said the incident was triggered only by the mere drunkenness of the parties involved. (FREEMAN)
