Man shot in Talisay City

CEBU, Philippines – A man was shot by an unknown assailant while drinking with his friends at Sitio Maglasang, Barangay Cansojong, Talisay City last Saturday.

The victim, Noel Cabrera, of legal age, sustained gunshot wounds in the right side of his chest, in his lower armpit, right arm and at his back.

He was rushed to the Talisay City District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

PO3 Mikie Espina said that before the incident, Cabrera and his friends Renier Cañas and Alex Perez were drinking along the road when a man passed by and stared at him.

Cabrera got irked and chased the suspect with a knife.

Minutes later, the man came back, this time with a companion and onboard a motorcycle. He shot Cabrera several times.

Cabrera's friends ran for help. A service cab driven by Joven Tradeo helped them in taking Cabrera to the hospital.

Espina said personal grudge was the reason for the shooting.

"Magmaoy man gud ni siya kung mahubog na," he said.

Last year, a man went inside Cabrera's house and shot him twice while he was watching television. He was hit at the right side of the face and chest but survived. (FREEMAN)
