Man sued for killing actress' niece

- Ryan Christopher J. Sorote -

CEBU, Philippines – A parricide case was filed yesterday against a man for killing his wife, who was reportedly a niece of famous actress Angel Locsin, in Carcar, Cebu on November 4.

Police filed parricide charge against Fernando Sansan, 44, before the Carcar Prosecutors Office, under Prosecutor Richard Abangan.

Fernando allegedly brutally killed his wife, Rachelle Sansan, 28, in their house at past 10 p.m. of November 4 in Barangay Perrelos.

Locsin, who is reportedly an aunt of the victim, expressed shock when she learned the incident.

In an interview over ABS-CBN News, Locsin said her niece ran away from home because she was a battered wife. On the day of the killing, she added that Rachelle went home just to get some money as she was experiencing financial problems after her ATM account was emptied.

But Rachelle allegedly did not expect that her husband was around. When Fernando saw her, he allegedly started beating her mercilessly.

Fernando allegedly took a picture of his heavily-beaten wife and sent it to his sister, who then phoned him to try to pacify him.

"Tumawag pa ang kapatid niya sa suspek na, 'Ayusin ninyo yan.' Sabi aayusin daw. Pagbaba ng telepono pinatay na siya," said Locsin.

The actress also said that their family accepted Fernando because Rachelle loved him, but she could not however accept that he killed her niece.

"Hindi namin alam kung bakit niya minahal ang tao na yon… pero dahil minahal siya ng pinsan namin, tanggap namin siya. Pero ang kapal ng mukha mo na ginawa mo sa pamilya namin ito," Locsin said.

Locsin also revealed that her family is receiving death threats from Fernando through text message.

"Kapag hindi daw kami tumigil sa kasasalita may gagawin siya sa amin. Hindi ako natatakot sa iyo. Hindi ako natatakot, alam kong mahuhuli ka," she said.

She also said that she is speaking up in order to protect her family, and to show Fernando that they are not afraid of him.

PO2 Alex Buanghog of Carcar police told The FREEMAN that the suspect, who is famously known as "Rene," remains at large until now.

However, Buanghog assured that they will continue their manhunt operation to arrest the suspect. (FREEMAN)
