Doctors: Osmeña now free from cancer

CEBU, Philippines – The latest laboratory checkup of Cebu City South District Rep. Tomas Osmeña at the world's famous cancer center shows that the official is totally cancer-free.

The doctors of the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas reaffirmed its earlier declaration that the congressman does not have cancer cells anymore.

The 62-year old Osmeña underwent another round of laboratory checkup in the U.S. on November 16.

"My checkup at MD Anderson shows no sign of cancer. My thanks for all the prayers by friends," Osmeña said in a text message sent to The FREEMAN.

Although he has been found free from cancer, Osmeña is still required to come back for follow up checkups in Houston six months later to ensure his health condition.

Osmeña however will continue to carry a urine container with him because the doctors already removed his urinary bladder during his surgical operation in 2008.

Osmeña said he believes that his critics were again frustrated about his latest health bulletin because some of them might have been praying for his death.

As of yesterday, Osmeña was still in the US visiting friends. He is scheduled to be back home by November 23.

The neophyte congressman said he will directly attend the sessions in Congress before going back to Cebu City. (FREEMAN)
