Capitol earns over P.5 million from terminal fees in 4 days

CEBU, Philippines – The upsurge of passengers to visit their departed love ones in the provinces has earned for the Capitol over half million pesos from the terminal fees at the Cebu South Bus Terminal.

Cebu provincial administrator Eduardo Habin said that in just four days the provincial government posted a total collection of P531,530 from the P5 terminal fee it collected from each passenger who uses the south bus terminal.

The accumulated amount was the terminal's income from October 29 to November 1. From October 29 to 31 the terminal collected an average of P148,390 a day. This means that an average of 29,678 passengers use the terminal every day and paid the P5 terminal fee.  

Terminal officer-in-charge Emmanuel Guial said the number of passengers was really high because in ordinary days, they only have an average of 10,000 passengers daily.

On November 1, the terminal was still able to collect P86,360 from 17,272 passengers who tried to catch up the observance of All Saints Day in their hometowns.

The CSBT has a target of P50 million collection for the year 2010.

As of September 30, 2010, the amount collected including the stall rentals has already reached P38 million.

Habin said he is confident that they will be able to hit the target up to December 2010. Habin yesterday congratulated the elements of the Cebu Provincial Police Office for providing 24-hour security at the terminal.

He likewise thanked the security personnel at the terminal under the leadership of Capitol consultant on security ret. Col. Cesar Veloso. (FREEMAN)
