CEBU, Philippines – Three years before the local elections on 2013, former President Joseph Estrada has placed his bet on Liloan Mayor Franco "Duke" Frasco for governor of Cebu.
Estrada made his endorsement during Frasco's birthday celebration last October Saturday where he was a guest together with Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Frasco's mother-in-law.
Frasco married Garcia's daughter Cristina last year during which Estrada stood as sponsor.
Frasco turned 30 last October 27, but opted to celebrate only last Saturday in time for the inauguration of his P70 million worth of projects.
Estrada said seeing Frasco's projects reminded him of the time he was mayor of San Juan when he was still 31 years old.
"San Juan is also a small town like Liloan and I became president. Liloan is also a small town and your mayor has shown this capability, his ability, and his commitment to his people… I'm sure that our Cebuano people will elect him as governor of Cebu province," Estrada said.
"You will go a long way Duke, just carry on the good work," the former president told Frasco.
Estrada was instrumental in the implementation of the P60- million Liloan Public Market.
Frasco has supported Estrada in the latter's attempt for the presidency last May while Garcia supported then administration bet Gilberto Teodoro.
During her 55th birthday celebration last October 12, Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. also endorsed the governor for senator in 2013. (FREEMAN)
