CEBU, Philippines – A policeman assigned to the Naga Police Station was immediately brought to the South General Hospital after his motorcycle was accidentally hit by another police vehicle while they were on their way to respond to an alarm.
The team just came from manning a checkpoint near a flyover in Barangay East Poblacion around 10:40 a.m. yesterday and were heading to the South General Hospital to respond to a vehicular accident.
PO2 Cristino Canono sustained wounds to the head and bruises to the left leg while the driver of the multicab with license plate numbers SHT-372, PO1 Diosdado Paunil, was unhurt.
According to PO3 Bernard Otida, both vehicles collided while maneuvering a blind curve besides the new municipal building in Barangay East Poblacion.
"Puro man gud gadali kay paingon ug alarma, unsaon kung dili mi makalarga dayon ingnon man ming dugay," Otida told The FREEMAN, adding that Canono is already in stable condition as of yesterday night.
The other members of the team were Sr. Insp. Rolando Evalle, PO3 Romeo Bullano, PO2 James Cañete and PO1 Micheal Villarmia.
Meanwhile, the driver of a motorcycle was also brought to the hospital after he was hit by an ambulance yesterday afternoon in Barangay Camp 4, Talisay City.
Victim Meljun Sibla, 24, a resident of Sitio Humay-Humay, Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City, got bruises in the different parts of his body when his Honda XRM motorcycle with plate numbers 70-CK-4357 was hit by the ambulance bearing plate numbers SHT-521 driven by Apolinario Jorolan, 24, a resident of Toledo City.
According to PO2 Amelito Hornales, an investigator of the Talisay Traffic Division, Jorolan was coming from Cebu City while Sibla was coming from the uplands of Talisay.
Jorolan was going uphill and Sibla was heading downhill when both vehicles collided at a blind curve.
"Ingon si Jorolan nga si Sibla maoy nibangga kay wala na siya makalikay tungod kay delikado kung mulahos siya sa pangpang," Hornales said.
Jorolan immediately brought Sibla to the Cebu Doctors University Hospital in Cebu City using the ambulance he was driving, while Sibla's motorcycle is in the custody of TTD. (FREEMAN)
