CEBU, Philippines – In preparation for the commemoration of All Souls Day and the All Saints Day, 240 policemen from the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) will be detailed to the eight cemeteries in the city and the North Bus Terminal.
MCPO director Noel Gillamac said there will be at least 30 policemen that will be sent to the Roman Catholic cemetery, the municipal cemetery, Manpark, Grosmar, Pagsabungan, Jagobiao, Cempark, and Angelicum.
He also said the services of the Barangay Intelligence Network and the barangay tanods will be sought to help impose the ordinance that bans drinking in public and the Comelec rule which bans the carrying of firearms and deadly weapons.
The Comelec gun ban will remain in effect until November 10.
Those who pretend to be priests or lay ministers will be arrested.
Security details will also be assigned to the Cebu North Bus terminal starting today.
It has been a scenario at the North Bus terminal that passengers will be quarrelling over seats in buses.
A police assistance desk will be put up inside the terminal.
Gillamac said the police have asked the North Bus terminal management whether it was reasonable for the MCPO traffic chief to sit as a member of the board of the Cebu North Bus Management Board.
Gillamac said that although the terminal is owned and operated by the Cebu City government, it is located in barangay Subangdaku. (FREEMAN)
