CEBU, Philippines – One of the three accused in the killing of former Regional State Prosecutor Hernando Masangkay last June 25 pleaded not guilty of the accusations against him during an arraignment of his case yesterday.

The 17-year-old boy accused, assisted by Attorney Noel Anthony Maninang, pleaded not guilty to the crime robbery with homicide during his arraignment at the sala of Regional Trial Court Judge Sylva Paderanga of Branch 16.

Reginald, Masangkay's son, told police earlier that he believed his father was robbed before he was killed as the victim's gold necklace and expensive watch were already gone when his body was found.

Aside from his gold necklace, which estimated to worth P10,000, Masangkay also allegedly lost P4,000 cash.

Despite the minor suspect's denial, Reginald 32, said yesterday that they will pursue the case.

After the arraignment, the accused was brought back by Talisay police to Talisay City Jail in Barangay Maghaway, Talisay City for detention.

The accused was arrested in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, after he posted a message in a popular social networking site suggesting on his whereabouts.

Talisay City police, led by its chief Supt. Henry Biñas served the warrant of arrest for robbery with homicide against the minor in La Riquah Resto Bar in San Carlos City where he joined a male fashion show.

The police waited until the fashion show was over to serve the warrant of arrest to the minor. (FREEMAN)
