CEBU, Philippines – Cebu sixth district Rep. Gabriel Luis "Luigi" Quisumbing said he will work for the increase of the number of students in Cordova town who can avail of his scholarship program.
Rep. Quisumbing made the promise when he visited Cordova town last week and met Mayor Adelino Sitoy, Vice Mayor Rodrigo Jumaoas, and members of the Sangguniang Bayan and students of Cordova Public College.
According to Quisumbing, one of his priority programs is to improve the quality of education in his district which comprise the town of Cordova and Consolacion and Mandaue City.
Quisumbing said a number of high school graduates in Cordova town cannot pursue a college education, which forces them to look for jobs at the Mactan Export Zone in Lapu-Lapu City.
"Nahibawo man ta nga kon ang usa ka empleyado dili gayud husto sa kinaadman ug wala gayud maka graduate sa college, dili gyud kini makapaabot nga dako usab ang suweldo," said Quisumbing.
He said because of this, he put up a scholarship program for high school students.
Now he wants to increase the number of students who can avail of the program every opening year. (FREEMAN)
