Woman dies in San Remigio accident
CEBU, Philippines – A 55-year-old woman died an hour after she was hit by a motorcycle at the national highway of Sitio Kalkalan, Barangay Poblacion, San Remigio last Friday.
Clarita Capalac, who lived in Barangay Poblacion, was ran over by a speeding Suzuki motorcycle with plate number 7TC-K-8324 driven by Robinson Bofill, 31, of Sitio Bajada, Barangay Poblacion.
Investigation conducted by PO3 Jovanny Placencia disclosed that Bofill was coming from Bogo and heading towards Barangay Poblacion when Capalac disembarked from a motorcycle-for-hire and immediately crossed.
"Murag wala siya managana ug labang sa dan," Placencia said. (It seems that she wasn't looking.)
Capalac suffered from major wounds and loss of blood. She was declared dead by attending physician Dr. Oliver Alineo an hour after she was taken to the Bogo District Hospital. Bofill, who was not wearing a helmet, incurred wounds and bruises on the different parts of his body. He was given medical treatment at the Miller Hospital but is now detained at the San Remigio Police Station.
According to PO3 Robert Pestanio, Capalac went to Barangay Argawanon to visit his brother before she met the accident.
"Iyang giadto iyang igsuon pero pagnaog gyud niya sa habal-habal wa siguro niya mabantayi ang motor, mao to naigo siya," he said. (She just came from her brother's. Maybe she did not notice the approaching motorcycle.) (FREEMAN)
