-

CEBU, Philippines - A passenger assistance center will be set up by the Cebu Coast Guard starting on October 30 to November 3 to help sea-riding passengers who are expected to go home to their respective provinces within the Visayas for the Halloween.

Capt. Anelito Gabisan said the help desks will be set up in strategic locations in the different ports within regions 7 and 8. The activity is in accordance with the Department of Transportation and Communications’ Eagle Eye Project “Oplan Kaluluwa 10” in anticipation to the heavy influx of passengers for the upcoming All Souls Day and All Saints Day.

Help desks will be jointly establish by the Coast Guard, Cebu Ports Authority, Philippine Ports Authority, Maritime Industry Authority and non-government organizations including the shipping companies.

Help desks will be opened for 24 hours with at least six personnel to assist the passengers’ need, including medical assistance.

“Matters pertaining to safety and security regulations will be strictly implemented to ensure and secure sea travel. The riding public is requested to be in port terminal two hours before their scheduled departure to avoid inconvenience or delays,” Gabisan said.    (THE FREEMAN NEWS)
